Bank of Beirut Empowers Exceptional Students at NDU VEX
Posted on 05/05/2017

Most students usually spend their free time playing video games, browsing through their social media apps or even just resting, while others use this time to build robots and explore technological possibilities. Bank of Beirut proudly had the chance to meet and empower such exceptional students at NDU’s VEX robotics competition, as part of its #BoBEmpowersYouth program.

Student groups from different schools and universities were each placed in their respective categories, and competed to build the most efficient robot. Join us as we take a closer look at their remarkable achievements!

New Century School (NCS) teams (Megatron and Optimus) managed to respectively scoop the Excellence and Design awards for the elementary students’ category. Robotics is a central theme at NCS, thanks to the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) program they have been applying for three years.

Other high school and university students distinguished themselves during the competition as well. The Student Technology Club, winner of the Excellence Award amongst high school students, shared with us the difficulties they faced while developing their robot. “Perseverance and hard work enabled us to overcome everything!”

As for the excellence award of university students, it was granted to Université Saint-Esprit de Kaslik’s (USEK) team. Winners emphasized the importance of teamwork and gradual efforts, from brainstorming to building mechanical parts.

Finally, there is no doubt that similar competitions support young talents and encourage them to pursue their passion. Thus, institutions are urged to follow in Bank of Beirut’s footsteps and provide support in building together a better tomorrow.
